My Story

Hello, I am a licensed clinical social worker  (LCSW).  I received my masters in social work from Northwest Nazarene University in 2013. I am  certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy.  I specialize in treating trauma and helping people resolve various issues. My primary treatment modality is EMDR.

I am  a Certified First Responder Counselor. What does that mean:)   I have additional training, experience and skills to work with  first responders.  I am culturally competent to work with first responders.  I specialize  and focus working with  first responders, who are dear to my heart.

I have been a licensed social worker for 30 years.  My first career, of 19 years, was helping families and children who struggled with legal issues.

I was a member of the drug court treatment team. I have facilitated a varied of groups: relapse recovery, cognitive self change, Voices group, and trauma groups. I have worked with girls, boys, men, and woman.   I have also taught Parent Project classes.

I worked in an acute psychiatric hospital for 7 years.  Every day I saw how trauma directly impacts a person’s behaviors, decisions, and life.

I am trained in Critical Incident Stress Response (CISM) by the International Critical Stress Management Foundation, Inc.  I am a active member of a critical  incident response  team.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.  I focus my continuing education on trauma to ensure I am competent in dealing with trauma.

My mission as a therapist is to provide a supportive and safe environment for my clients in order to address their issues.  My approach is honest, straight-forward, and compassionate.  I help clients explore their inner strengths, decrease negative symptoms, increase coping skills, and have a fulfilling life of well-being.

Personally, I love spending time with family, the outdoors, riding horses, and camping.
